Julia Sakr is the Founder and Creative Director of Barney.

Her journey in pet product design began in 2015 with Potty Plant, the first real grass dog toilet - an innovative solution inspired by her Samoyed, Barney, during his puppy toilet training years. As Barney grew older, Julia recognized another gap: the need for a dog bed that was not only orthopedic and supportive to cushion Barney’s aging joints but also aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean.

This vision led to the creation of Barney Bed and Cat Street. Her design philosophy evolved alongside her own journey - from a young woman with her first dog in her 20s to a founder deeply invested in quality, longevity, and sustainability. Julia believes in designing products that stand the test of time, both in durability and style, ensuring they are practical for everyday life while reducing waste.

Julia has dedicated her career to continuous innovation and thoughtful design, always with the goal of enhancing the comfort and well-being of pets while making life easier for their owners. Through Barney and beyond, she remains committed to creating products that honor the special bond between people and their pets.
