About the Barney Covers
- How do I fit the cover on my Barney Bed?
There are two types of Barney Bed Covers; Zip Covers and Slip-On Covers.
Zip Covers replace your original Barney Bed cover and create a fitted look. You need to remove the memory foam mattress and chin rests from the original cover and reinsert them into the new cover. Check out our video tutorial to help fit your Zip Cover here.
Slip-On Covers slip over your Barney Bed’s original cover like a fitted sheet and create a relaxed look. The elastic base on the cover makes popping your cover on and off easy so, washing your Barney Bed cover is simpler than ever. Check out our video tutorial to help fit your Slip-On Cover here.
- Is the cover waterproof?
No, our covers are not waterproof as we designed them to be as comfy and soft as possible and waterproof materials are not often comfy to the touch. We have, however, designed the covers to be super easy to remove and wash whenever needed. We created the Waterproof lining Kit which you can fit over the interior of your Barney Bed- just like your own mattress protector, which will fully protect your Barney Bed from water/pee accidents.
- Are there any other colors?
The Barney Bed is sold in its gray colorway cover and the Barney Signature Bed and BarneyCurl Beds are sold in the Bone colorway cover. All additional covers are sold separately.
- I already have a bed. Do you sell just the covers?
Yes! Please choose the same size cover as your Original Barney Bed. Our covers are specifically designed to only fit the Barney Bed. You can check your bed size on the tag inside your cover or if you have any questions about the bed size you ordered, please send an email to hello@barneybed.com and we’ll be happy to look up your order.
- I fit my zip cover on my bed, why doesn’t it look fitted like the photos online?
This is because your original cover needs to be fully removed, and the memory foam inserts need to be inserted into your zip cover. Our zip covers (Bouclé Cover, Teddy Covers, Arthur-Itis Cover, Jet Black Covers) are a replacement for the original cover and are not intended to be fitted over the cover.
Care Instructions
Our Zip Covers unzip like a dream with the YKK Zipper and are machine washable. To wash, simply unzip the cover and remove the foam inserts (don’t forget the chin rests!). Machine wash at 86°F with like colors to keep your cover looking fresh. Line dry to preserve the elegant pleats. Ironing is recommended if pleats become wrinkled. Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals. Do not tumble dry.
See our Care & Washing page for a video that shows how to remove our Zip Covers and reassemble the cover after washing.
A note on our signature skirt: the semi-attached box pleat adds charm and structure, so we recommend this cover for gentle loungers rather than dogs who scratch or chew excessively.
